  1. I am so very touched that you are doing this for my dear departed cousin Lauren. I went to the celebration of her life last week in California. I wish I could be there in Berkeley for the event. If you please would post pictures I would much appreciate it, Thanks her cousin Lucy

  2. The day that we heard of Lauren's accident will never be forgotten. My son Nathan Cornejo was blessed to have crossed paths with Lauren years ago when he moved into the Bay area. He found Lauren very interesting and inspirational and thus began a very special relationship. He often spoke of their conversations and would always speak very highly of Lauren. At this time of Nathan's life he was battling with alcohol and Lauren was one of the reasons that he eventually took an oath to become sober. Was not an easy task but he would often remember that Lauren valued him and knew that she had wanted him to triumph over this challenge.
The day he received the phone call that would change his life, he was living with me (I am mom) in Fresno. I was running errands and Nathan called and asked me to please come home immediately, which I did. He met me at the front door and looked into my my eyes with a look that terrified me. I asked him to tell me what was wrong and all he could do was shake his head and stare. He couldn't speak and would just shake his head as if saying , NO! NO! by then I was very scared and grabbed him by the shoulders and told him to PLEASE tell me what was wrong! I asked him if something had happened to one of his siblings, he shook his head no, then knowing the pain and shock he was in I asked him if something had happened to Lauren knowing that this reaction of horror would be only for the people that he loved dearly. He then stopped looked into my eyes with a haunting stare and I knew something terrible had happened. I was terrified beyond words by then and knew that it was very serious. He then said Lauren's name and I asked if she was hurt, he nodded yes and he started to shake, I knew there was more.....I then asked the question that I was so afraid to ask...if she had died and at that moment we both went down on the pavement and he cried as I held him....it was a day that we will never forget.
She was very special to Nathan only next to his family. We will not forget the person that she was and her love for life and her creative spirit will never be forgotten. We love and miss you Lauren!
